Hawaiian Massage Training

Lomilomi is an ancient form of bodywork passed through the generations by the Kahunas of Hawaii. Temple-Style Lomi is a modern lineage brought to the world by Kahu Abraham Kawai'i. In this training you will learn a full-body routine that can be the foundation for a new massage practice or an amazing addition to your current menu.

This lineage primarily uses forearm and elbow strokes that flow across the body in a rhythmic, wave-like motion, inducing a trance-like state of deep relaxation. It also incorporates a variety of manual stretches, deep twists, and Deep Joint Rotations which creates expansion in the body and improves flexibility and range-of-motion. The Deep Joint Rotations are unique to this modality and are only included in the Advanced Level Training.

You will learn to generate mana (energy) through HA Breathwork and a dance step called the Ka'aleleau, which allows you to glide around the massage table. Breathing deeply through the heart center, this energy is shared with the receiver through the bodywork.

If you have already taken a Temple-Style Training with us, this course will build on that and include new material. As this is more advanced work, we recommend you have some experience with lomilomi or massage in general. However, there are no prerequisites and if you have zero bodywork experience but feel up to the challenge, we welcome you to join us!
